Stripes

I created the STRIPES series of acrylic paintings in early 2023, when I was 93 years old. Having completed over half a dozen series of abstract paintings during the previous year (PATTERNS; WEAVING PATTERNS; TRANSITIONS; FADE-OUT; ALPHABET; SPIRALS; PLANETS etc.), I tried to understand why, at this late stage of my life, I am so drawn to creating abstract painting, something that was the exception rather than the rule in my long life as an artist. My tentative answer is that creating abstract art, especially my use of geometric forms, allows me to create some semblance of order in our chaotic world.
